Friends | The one where they get back together

The Friends Reunion finally has a release date! In less than 10 days, the beloved sitcom Friends’ cast will get back together for a long-awaited reunion. The Reunion will premiere exclusively on HBO Max on the 27th May 2021 which is only available to U.S and U.S territories. It has not been revealed yet if it will be premiered on other platforms. A trailer was uploaded by all the main cast members on 13 May where we can hear the iconic soundtrack. What do we know so far about the Friends Reunion?

We were on a break as Ross Geller would say, the series finale of Friends aired 17 years ago and after 17 years, Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Courteney Cox (Monica), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matt LeBlanc (Joey), Matthew Perry (Chandler), and David Schwimmer (Ross) will reunite to film the special on the show’s original set at Warner Bros, Studio’s Stage 24 in Burbank, California. The same stage where the series was filmed.

Ben Winston directed the special and produced “Friends” along with executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane. The official Friends instagram account also revealed a line up of celebrity guests namely; David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon, and Malala Yousafzai who will participate in the reunion.

Spoiler Alert

While this reunion has been a long-awaited event unfortunately, the Reunion Special is not an addition to the original 236 episodes of Friends as fans may think. It will be an unscripted event where the cast members will revisit the set, have surprises and share behind the scenes footage, but appear as themselves and not as their original characters.
